5 Mistakes Network Marketers Make (Often)

Benefit from the mistakes that others have made before you. It’s never too late to turn your business around! Thanks Allecia for summarizing our recent conference where we went over the 5 Mistakes Network Marketers Make:

1. TREATING THEIR BIZ LIKE A LOTTERY TICKET
You can’t just sit and wait for the ship to come in! You have to apply effort. It will not build itself! This “sit back and watch the money fall” mentality isn’t your their fault, though. Sometimes it’s the marketer that brought you into the business that made it look like the products and services would “sell themselves”.

Don’t make this mistake! You have to treat it as a real business owner of a franchise would. Develop a target market, learn from your leaders the best way to duplicate success in your business and attend every company training call and event.

2. TRYING TO DO IT ALONE
None of us are as smart as ALL of us. The only results you benefit from are the ones you do yourself, however with a like minded teammate you get so much more done. Motivation, more ideas = productivity and less frustration. Work with your leader to form motivational and support groups for your team.

Don’t try to be the “expert” especially if you are new. Your prospects will respect you more if you get an expert on the line to help out, it takes the focus off of you and adds value to the experience of learning about an opportunity to change their life.

3. THEY DON’T STUDY, READ, WORK
What you feed your brain is what you get out of it. Be teachable, do observations, study, learn. Learning is earning. This ties back into the first mistake.  You have to be engaged in your business and read everything you can on how others have built similar businesses. This is the information age, just Google what ever you need or feel you are missing for an answer.

Also, allow yourself to experience random information. Being able to apply other fields and concepts to your business can be a game changer. Example, picking a random medical magazine you may uncover a study on psychology that you can now use in the next conversation you have with a prospect. You would have never found that info if you had a closed mind!

dont-give-up4. THEY GIVE UP TOO EARLY
Success doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. Don’t give up when you might just just be at the peak of your success! Don’t take that failing chance. Have faith, stick it out. A step daily towards a goal will lead inevitably to success. In this kind of business, your monthly expenses are less than $100 whereas a business with a storefront and employees will have a $5k/mo overhead, so what’s your excuse to quit? Trim OTHER expenses and make away for your biz to survive or you will never see the fruits of the seeds you planted.

5. THEY MAKE IT ALL ABOUT THEM
When trying to influence others and show them your business plan, it’s important to brand yourself but never make it all about you! Include the other person in your vision for the future. Where do they fit in? Everyone you see is walking about tuned into a special station call WIIFM, Whats In It For Me. Don’t make them tune out. Ask questions about them. Show them you are invested and interested in them! Also, keep your team inspired. We all need that. Instead of selfies of yourself all the time, make other examples of social proof. These are your business partners so don’t let EGO turn to IGO!!!
